Black Friday

Being insane, I decided to venture out with my family on Black Friday. Now, I’m a committed capitalist and all, but you people standing in line for hours in front of Best Buy are nuts.

Then again, after this morning, this site (and it’s owner) may become the property of the American Express corporation… if I spend any more I’ll end up as an honorary member of Congress…

  1. Cut up those credit cards. Better yet, put them in a can filled with water and place the can in the freezer ( in case of emergency break ice).

  2. ZZ, law students don’t get paid to be students. They have to take out loans to pay for school and loans to live on. Debt is a way of life, until they get out of law school and are paid insane amounts of money to make up for it.

  3. Indeed. Nothing is more distressing than realizing that you’re taking out student loans to pay off car loans…

    Although, he does have a point. Unless you have to, it’s a profoundly bad idea to use credit cards for anything as a student — and if you do, it’s a very good idea to pay them off as soon as you possibly can. I admit to be rather bad at doing either of the two.

    Just a few years ago, that would have been anything but distressing. Student loans *were* at incredibly low rates … far lower than you could have gotten for a car loan. And that’s precisely what I did: I paid off my car loan (at around 6%) with my student loan money, which I got for around 3%. Those were the days….
