Sen. Tim Johnson Hospitalized

South Dakota’s senior Senator, Tim Johnson (D) has been hospitalized for a suspected stroke.

Best wishes to Senator Johnson’s family, and here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for the Senator.

The Sioux Falls Argus-Leader has more on the situation. They’re already speculating about what might happen should Johnson be incapacitated — let’s all hope it doesn’t come to that.

UPDATE: Doctors are now saying that Sen. Johnson had neither a stroke nor a heart attack, but there isn’t a diagnosis of what illness he has. More as the situation develops…

  1. Most stroke victims are out of commission for several months (at the very least), so the prospect of Johnson being able to perform his duties in 2007 seem very bleak. I’m expecting to hear that Johnson has turned in his resignation within the week.

  2. Gee Mark, thanks for that classy comment. Let’s hope he does retire; god forbid he maybe didn’t have a stroke, and is just fine. He’s a Dems, he must resign!

  3. Billy, apparently you’re not a frequent visitor here or you’d know I AM A DEM. Just trying to be real here. Do you know any stroke victims who’ve been able to carry on with their jobs within days or weeks afterwards? I sure don’t.
