UPDATE: Georgian Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili is vowing to strictly enforce the state of emergency in the capital city of Tbilisi. Parliamentary speaker Nino Burdzhanadze is declaring herself acting President. Opposition leader Mikhail Saakashvili has said that he would allow Shevardnadze to remain is he calls a new Presidential election.

At issue in this conflict are the results of the recent parliamentary elections, which the opposition claims had been rigged by Shevardnadze. Foreign and US State Department observers had also believed that he elections had been tampered with.
