For all the criticism of Iraq being about oil, the French refusal to support UN sanctions against Sudan for it’s ongoing genocide in the Darfur region stinks to high heaven. One wonders if it has anything to do with their ongoing interests in Sudanese oil.
The US has banned all trade and investment between US companies and the Sudanese government since November 1997 due to the widespread violation of human rights in the Sudanese civil war.
