Enterprise and National Review
Two reviews of the new Star Trek series Enterprise, both of them by the incomparable Jonah Goldberg. The first is in National Review Weekend and the other appears in Jonah’s syndicated column. Both get to an essential point about the entire Star Trek mythos, it’s boundless optimism and celebration of the entrepreneural spirit. While I think character development is important, Goldberg is correct in pointing out that it sometimes needs a good plot to go along with it. Since Enterprise can’t really take the llevel of intensity of a show like Farscape, they can go back to where it all began – The Original Series.
Also, the College Republicans have had a great Peace Through Strength campaign celebrating American values and American veterans. Today I had a veteran come up and thank us for supporting them. If anything, it’s us who owe our veterans more than we could ever repay…
