Defending Delta Force

Scott Shuger has an interesting article in Slate debunking the idea that the recent Delta Force/Rangers special op was a failure. Shuger shows that Seymour Hersch simply didn’t have all his facts right. He compares the raid on Mullah Omar’s compound as being like Jimmy Doolittle’s Tokyo raid. It wasn’t about hitting any big targets, but sending a message to the Taliban that we can target them anytime, anywhere. It may not be a decisive military victory, but it did accomplish the objectives it needed to.
