President Bush is about to make the biggest mistake of his political career by saying he’ll sign campaign finance reform into law. The current campaign finance reform bill is a slap in the face to the First Amendment, is widlly unconstitutional, and should not be made into law. If President Bush signs this bill, it will harm Republican efforts to keep the House and win the Senate, and it will hurt President Bush in 2004. Signing campaign finance reform would be even worse than steel tariffs – a move that wouldn’t bring him any more support among swing voters and would only serve to alienate his base constituency. Please, President Bush, don’t sign CFR into law!
