Israeli Defense Forces have shelled Yassir Arafat’s headquarters in Ramallah
as part of their conflict against Palestinian terrorism. The recent terrorist attacks
have shown that Arafat cannot and will not end the terrorist attacks against the
Israeli state. Despite the fact that
Arafat has called for a cease-fire, Arafat’s previous calls have amounted to
little.
In the end, the peace in the Middle East will only come when the terrorist cells
are throughly destroyed. Israel has the right to exist as a free and independent
state. The Palestinians could easily have the same, provided that they end the
terrorist attacks against their Israeli neighbors. Unfortunately, it appears that
the cycle of bloodshed that has been occuring for the past few months will
continue for some time before both sides can find compromise.
