Thomas Friedman has a good article in The New York Times on why
the US needs to be more proactive in bolstering its image in the Arab world.
He’s right, to a point. We need to be more proactive in bolstering our image
abroad. (Much of our image problems could very well be linked to a certain
ex-President, perhaps?) However, at the same time, as the Sprite commericial
used to say, "image isn’t everything." We need to be magnanimous,
but magnanimity in victory is better than trying to appease a tyrannical regime.
