Pakistan is now threatening to use nuclear weapons against a conventional attack by India. This is about the single dumbest thing that they can do. Musharraf is no idiot, he has to know that using nuclear weapons against India will lead to nuclear retaliation, and all of Pakistan will end up as a large glass parking lot in the end.
Neither side stands to gain anything but millions of civilian losses and losing any support from the West. In the end, as long as both leaders can keep tight control over their armed forces, this situation is unlikely to escalate to a full nuclear exchange. If they don’t, and nuclear weapons are used, the consequences for both sides would be nothing less than disastrous.
