After the latest round of terrorist attacks against Israel, the Israelis are now demanding that
Arafat be stripped of his position as head of the Palestinian Authority. Arafat clearly cannot or will not stop the terror attacks against Israel. It is clear that he is beholden to the radical groups that want nothing less than the destruction of Israel. It is also clear that he’s no partner for peace, but another bloodthirsty tyrant.
The only problem comes from the fact that there’s not a lot of moderates left to replace him. All of them have been killed by the radicals. It’s clear that it will take a lot of effort to restore some kind of sane leadership to the PA so that some kind of peace agreement can take place.
