France and Germany are stating flatly that they will not send troops to Iraq no matter what – which undercuts Kerry’s argument (not that it wasn’t already a bloodied stump as it was) that he would magically send more foreign troops to Iraq to help stabilize the country. Of course, this is about as big a surprise as the observation that water is wet for some, but other still seem to cling to the naive illusion that if Kerry were to speak his very best French to Jacques Chirac he’d gladly loan us a few brigades of crack French troops that would teach the terrorists how to surrender and spend the next few years in blissful collaboration.
For the score, it’s “respecting our allies” 0, “adding foreign troops” 0, and Kerry’s chances at getting elected – rapidly heading towards 0.
