The last few days has seen a flurry of activity related to al-Qaeda leader Abu Mus’ab al-Zarqawi. Already, three close Zarqawi associates have been captured by the Iraqi govermnment. These arrests will impede the terrorist plans to disrupt the upcoming Iraqi elections on their own as well as leading the coalition and Iraqi troops closer towards the terrorist leader himself.
In dealing with organized crime, law enforcement often work up the chain, capturing the bagmen and lieutenants first before nabbing the big fish. It appears that al-Qaeda’s Iraq operations are being rolled up in a similar manner. With luck, al-Zarqawi will be found and neutralized before he can behead another hostage or continue to murder the people of Iraq in cold blood.
