Jeane Kirkpatrick, RIP

Former Ambassador to the United Nations Jeane Kirkpatrick has died, according to the American Enterprise Institute, where she was a fellow. Her 1984 speech to the Republican National Convention remains to this day a shining example of American political oratory. During her tenure as Ambassador, Ms. Kirkpatrick stood strongly on the side of America in a time when the Soviet Empire was still very much a threat. The collapse of that empire and the massive expansion of human freedom that followed in its wake is a direct result of the moral courage and convictions of people like the Ambassador.
