Another One Down

Pakistan has captured the No. 3 man in al-Qaeda in another anti-terrorism raid. Abu Faraj al-Libbi was arrested in North Waziristan, the province where Osama bin Laden is believed to be hiding and where joint US/Pakistani training exercises have taken place. Al-Libbi replaced Khalid Shiekh Mohammad as al-Qaeda’s chief operational planner after Mohammad was arrested two years ago.

Efforts like these keep al-Qaeda off-balance and severely disrupt their operational capability. There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes between the US and Pakistan to help roll up al-Qaeda along the Afghan-Pakistan border, and efforts like these will help in bringing down bin Laden and Zawahiri as well.
