The slavery reparations movement is at it again, this time over the UN Conference on Racism. The pro-reparations activists led by Algerian Ahmed Ben Bella want an official US apology and forgiveness of African debt. Bella and other like him forget that it was the African people who captured their own people and brought them to the whites to be sold as slaves in many cases. While slavery was bad, the US already made reparations for slavery – reparations that cost the lives of many of our citizens. If the blood spilled in the Civil War by those who firmly believed in the abolitionist cause is insufficient reparation for slavery, than no amount of money would be sufficient.
