Someone Forgot Negotiation 101

Yassir Arafat is saying
that he won’t call for a cease-fire until Israel removes itself from Palestinian
territory. Someone must have forgotten to tell him that he has absolutely
no leverage. The Israelis have heard that line before, and there’s no way in hell
they’re going to take the chance of trust Arafat again. It’s either continue the
military operations and remove as many terrorists as possible and risk more
suicide attacks, or withdraw, and wait for Hamas and Hezbollah to rearm and
recruit. The choice is a fairly obvious one for Israel. It’s becoming more and more
clear that Arafat is off his rocker. It’s also becoming more and more likely that
he is going to be on the wrong end of an Israeli weapon in the near future.
