The Professor has come up with
the term "’panidiotarianism" to describe what Damian Penny identifies
as all the worlds
stupid ideologies are merging into one mega-idiocy. Based on the evidence,
that’s a good possibility.
I have a theory (as all bloggers must…) about this. Rather than thinking of
ideology as a Left-Right line with Noam Chomsky at the (far) left end, and Jean-Marie Le Pen at the (far) right, think of it as a circle. That way, a far-Rightist
like Le Pen and a Leftist like Chomsky can find similar ground in opposing free
trade and globalization. I’m sure there’s a political theorist who has covered this
ground with more depth than I, but it’s something to think about…
