President Jacques Chirac has appointed his Minister of Youth, Education, and Research – who actually challenges post-modernist Leftist thought! Rather than drolling over Derrida, Luc Ferry challenges the post-modernists blindness towards totalitarianism and support of primitivism. While it’s rather shocking to see the French do something so radically sensible, it’s also a nice sign that the entire country hasn’t completely slipped off the deep end. Now, if Chirac would appoint some free market thinkers and make some Thatcheresque reforms, he might actually prove his real leadership ability.
