A judge has entered
a not guilty plea on behalf of "20th hijacker" Zacarias Moussaoui, despite the fact that Moussaoui himself wished to enter a no contest plea.
Now if the court is willing to find Moussaoui competent enough to self as his own counsel, he should also be allowed to enter whatever plea he likes. If he wants to be on Death Row for his crimes, then he damn well deserves what he pleases.
I think the judge did the correct thing here. If she is not very careful, she will hand Moussaoui’s next set of lawyers a ready made issue for appeal.
