New Europe Vs. Old Europe

The BBC has an interesting compendium of reactions to Jacques Chirac’s latest outbursts. Not only has Chirac attracted the ire of the United States, but he has now managed to get most of Eastern Europe calling for his head.

There are some who say that it’s Eastern Europe, so who cares? However, looking at the growth patterns in Europe it’s clear that Western Europe is mostly in a state of decline while areas such as the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and Estonia are areas of incredible economic growth and potential. While the socialist economies of Western Europe continue to stagnate, it’s clear that Old Europe isn’t just an insulting moniker.
