This Is London reports that US forces are now in Saddam Hussein’s main palace. I’m sure it will make a nice field hospital for wounded Iraqi civilians.
Of course, the Hussein regime continues to live in its own little dream world:
In a bizarre press conference on the roof of the Palestine Hotel, as fighting raged on the other side of the river, Iraqi information minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf claimed there were no US troops in Baghdad and Iraq’s forces had forced American soldiers to "commit suicide".
One wonders if he’ll be making such denials as the last statue of Saddam is toppled in the streets.
