Norman Mailer says that we went to war to boost the egos of white men. I’d Fisk the life out of this one, but it’s virtually self-parodying, and besides, a picture can speak 1000 words anyway:

Satire is completely lost on you isn’t it Jay?
Frighteningly enough, I’m fairly certain he was being serious… although it’s certainly ridiculous enough to be satire.
If Mailer was being satirical (beyond the “hey, you can’t attack my point, I was being SaTIRical” sense of the term), it was lost on an awful lot of people.
Retroactively claiming satire is no defense against sloppy writing, logical incontinence and moral decripitude.
