Victor Davis Hanson has a piece in which he suggests some "tough love" is in order for Europe. Personally, I’m more inclined to suggest benign neglect. Europe is trying to keep their ossified labor markets from collapse, keep their social spending high enough to prevent social revolt, and try to challenge the US militarily with a European rapid reaction force. These goals will only continue Western Europe’s economic slide.
If Europe wants to become the next world superpower, let them try. Except this time we won’t bother picking up the pieces the next time pan-Europeanism leads to ruin across the continent.
