The administrative head of Iraq’s biowarfare program has been captured by US forces in Baghdad. Huda Salih Mahdi Ammash was one of the top 55 Iraqis sought by the US, and the only woman in Saddam Hussein’s war cabinet.
Ammash may have information relating to Iraq’s biological weapons program, although intelligence indicates she had only an administrative role in that program. Still, her capture could provide valuable evidence as to the location and status of Iraqi WMDs as well as the location of other key Iraqi officials.
