In order to stall a GOP-backed redistricting plan 58 Democratic members of the Texas House ran to Oklahoma. Without the 58 Democrats, the House was unable to fill their quota and proceed with new business. Texas state troopers were sent to apprehend the legislators, but they could not do so without a warrant in Oklahoma.
Sometimes truth really is stranger than fiction…
The only question here is, if all these legislators leave Texas for any length of time at all, even if only to go to another sewer like Oklahoma, why would they EVER come back? The Dixie Chicks may be embarrassed that the President is from Texas, but I’m even embarrassed that Texas is a state in my country.
