More On The Lie That Wasn’t

The Wall Street Journal finds a National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq’s pursuit of uranium. What’s important about this evidence is that it shows that there was a significant amount of evidence that Iraq was pursuing uranium in Africa. Moreover, NIE documents are not the product of one group in the American intelligence community but are consensus documents based on all available intelligence.

The hysterical cries of "BUSH LIED!" are going to backfire when the preponderance of evidence shows that it’s the critics of the Administration that are emitting bald-faced lies in pursuit of anything to take down the President.

  1. I’m sensing the 2003 equivalent to the “vast right-wing conspiracy” here. Clinton’s die-hard defenders made the same sorts of comments about the Lewinsky affair about this time in 1998….and ended up with egg on their face. In your race to proclaim Bush’s innocence, you could VERY easily be setting yourself up for the same embarrassment. No matter. It’ll just make it all the more fun to rub your nose in it if the issue continues to trend against Bush.

  2. The difference is that all credible intelligence reports indicate that Saddam Hussein possessed significant stocks of chemical and biological weapons. Furthermore, the British stand by their assessment that Iraq did attempt to purchase uranium from Africa.

Already it is the critics of the President who have egg on their faces.

  3. “It’ll just make it all the more fun to rub your nose in it ”

I will personnaly have no joy in doing so. people died because of this lie(s). I don’t care about vengeance or making fun of people.

“all credible intelligence reports indicate that Saddam Hussein possessed significant stocks of chemical and biological weapons”

who cares about the fact that no one find any WMDs in Irak? the report is here and is saying that there are!!!

“the British stand by their assessment that Iraq did attempt to purchase uranium from Africa.”

listen up everyone: the british are saying so. don’t you get it? why would you need evidence when you have a british telling you!!

    “new sources of intellligence”

I personnaly recommand the “thinking tank”, sorry, the “thinktank” the heritage foundation.

  4. who cares about the fact that no one find any WMDs in Irak? the report is here and is saying that there are!!!

Excellent point! Since we still didn’t find Saddam – that means he doesn’t exist either!

  5. Mark, the only way you could enjoy “rubbing our noses” in anything is if there were any chance that you’d feel any embarassed when if you’re shown wrong.

Because if you’re always right in your own mind, no matter what the facts, there’s really no risk, is there?

  6. Mitch, if I were legitimately shown to be wrong on something, I would “concede”. It’s happened before, believe it or not, albeit not often. 😉
