  1. When they started shooting at US troops.

It would have been preferable to take them alive and put them on trial, but when soldiers are under fire they have the right to shoot back.

  2. Not a good day for Democrats??? Why would we even care about this? Voters sure won’t…at least not for long. The deaths of Saddam’s sons will do little to justify the deaths of Americans’ sons as they continue to be brought home in bodybags at a rate of 7-10 per week. If you think that merely offing Uday and Qusay is gonna make the rest of Bush’s self-made disaster go away, I’m afraid you are sorely mistaken.

  3. hitler wasn’t killed, he commited suicide. this is why he wasn’t tried properly, with his fellow ministers.

“When they started shooting at US troops”
Saddam’s sons did not get killed in a self-defence move from US soldiers, they were hunted for weeks.

Not that I will miss them, but still, some persons were shot with no trial. you can pretend they don’t deserve one, that the outcome would have been the same…I don’t think so:

I hope more and more countries in the worlds are going to stand with europe against the death penalty. In this case, death penalty with no trial is a bit too much of a…baathist method?

“la raison du plus fort est toujours la meilleure”

  4. US soldiers gave the people in the house an opportunity to surrender. Their response was met with small-arms fire. While it would have been preferable to have a trial, Uday and Qusay made their capture impossible.

It wasn’t the death penalty, it was war, and in war you don’t always have the luxury of capturing the enemy alive.

  5. hitler wasn’t killed, he commited suicide. this is why he wasn’t tried properly, with his fellow ministers

Right. But nobody here or anywhere is curious as to what would’ve happened if Hitler was to be put on trial. Same for Saddam’s sons. Their actions are well documented.
What’s more, they shot at our troops.

  6. I agree on the fact that saddam’s sons did make it impossible to catch them alive. But usually, when an information was brought to the CentCom on Saddam or his sons location, missiles were on their way to it.(and since they only died yesterday, it means that many innocents died in previous attacks because someone the US were looking for was there 5 minutes ago!!)

As I said before, even if the outcome of the trial is obvious, a democratic state cannot avoid it (habeas corpus).

  7. yes, I was talking about the previous attempts to kill them (or Ossama). And this has been done by missiles several times(maybe you didn’t know about that):
After firing a few missiles (on a group in the afghan mountains because on the satellite pics one of them looked like Bin Laden, or on a car with a trailer in the Irak road to Syria), US experts go there, and make DNA testing. The results have always been negativ until today, which mean that innocent people were killed because the US mistakened them with “wanted dead or alive” people.

  8. The results have always been negativ until today, which mean that innocent people were killed

Uh. No. How do you come to the conclusion that “innocent people” where killed? We were getting people close to him, but not him.
Same as Afghanistan, we would get intel. that the leadership is meeting somewhere. Send a few rockets, and then alter after DNA we would find out that we did not get Osama or Mullah Omar, but did get some other sr. leadership.

  9. nobody knows, this is exactly my point. We don’t really know who you shot at. It could be Ltd, it could be peasant. Anyway, it was people who didn’t have a trial, thus innocents. Just in case you don’t know, everyone is innocent until declared guilty = saddam, ossama and friends ARE innocent.(until their trial, of course)
Saddam used to have meetings with high ranked officials in basic citizens home. if you shoot one hour later, you can kill a lot of people, all of them innocent.
thank you for getting my point for once!

  10. We don’t really know who you shot at.

    Does the CIA know?

Just in case you don’t know, everyone is innocent until declared guilty = saddam, ossama and friends ARE innocent

Wow, Vincent. And then you claim that French are our Allies and that we are “the same people”. Hardly. Osama issued a taped confession a number of times. Saddam’s crimes are very well documented.
Your “friendship” displayed quite clearly when you claim that Saddam/Osama are innocent till the trial, yet your press basically labels Bush/Blair as war criminals (without a trial).
Nice try. Americans are not fooled, though.

  11. are you elected , or representing some kind of group? I don’t think so. So, please, talk just for yourself. I also have american friends telling me how Bush sucks. On this blog as well, I’m not the only one that doesn’t agree with you(at least, that is what it seems to me).
    Americans are not fooled, anymore.
