Pro-Palestinian activist and author Orientalism Edward Said has died of leukemia at 67.
UPDATE: My sentiments match those of Mike Silverman:
I guess in the end what I can say is that I am sorry his life’s work and talent as a writer were put to the service of an immoral cause.
I will not be cheerful about his death, but neither will I mourn him.
Supporting Palestinian independence is a noble cause, even if the means they use to try to achieve it are ignoble in the extreme.
It would seem to me that it’s more important to bring an end to the conflict in the first place than it is to take sides on which side is more “moral”.
