Dominique de Villepin (AKA “Slick Villy”) is is speaking out on Iraq again. However, instead of the usual line of America-bashing, De Villepin is arguing that the world community must rally to help the people of Iraq.
As much as it pains me to praise de Villepin, he’s absolutely right. A US pullout from Iraq would be a complete and unmitigated disaster for the Iraqi people. De Villepin is also correct in pointing out that the international community must rally behind the Iraqi people and offer as much aid as is possible.
Of course, the EU should follow de Villepin’s lead and put more funds into Iraqi reconstruction to show that these words are not merely empty rhetoric.
You have no idea of what you’re talking about. All the help he is willing to give will never be sent to an american funds. Even the oil for food program is under american control ONLY, whatever you may have said earlier. It seems that some money has already been used to pay for the reconstruction to…who else? : Halliburton (just one billion…)
So this means, that the european money is going to be stuck until some room is left to the international community to organise stuff.
