Andrew Sullivan has a great piece Fisking the meme that Bush should appear at soldier’s funerals. Indeed, historically no President commonly shows up at funerals of individual soldiers – nor would it be a wise choice to do so. Putting a mourning family through the indignity of having to pass through a security checkpoint would hardly be a model of Presidential decorum. The argument about military funerals is simply a canard, a cheap shot that ignores history and simple logic.
