Powerline finds a perfect illustration of why the Democrats are not serious about national security. Kerry arguing that the threat of terrorism is "exaggerated" less than three years after the murder of 3,000 civilians and when al-Qaeda and others are still out there is as idiotic as someone arguing that Japan was not a threat in 1943. The only reason we haven’t seen a terrorist strike against the US on the scale of September 11 is because we’ve been actively trying to stop it – through many of the same measures that Kerry actively eschews.
Thankfully John Edwards had the right response, which is to his credit. Still, the fact that the Democratic frontrunner can get away with a comment that bone-headed is frankly shocking.
