Campaign Bombshell For Kerry?

Matt Drudge is breathlessly hyping some kind of Kerry-campaign sex scandal. Given that Drudge broke the Lewinsky affair before the media, this could be something big, or it could be yet another smear attempt against a prominent politician.

My guess is the latter, until more evidence comes to prove such an assertion. If that’s true, I wonder where this story could be coming from? I wonder who would benefit from such a story crippling Kerry before the Wisconsin primary Tuesday?

*cough* Howard Dean *cough*

UPDATE: Venomous Kate thinks there may be less here than what Drudge is hyping which would hardly be a surprise. Personally, while I have quite a bit of schadenfreud about yet another Democrat who can’t keep their pants on, there are a lot of things to criticize about Kerry that have substance to them rather than yet another affair.

  1. I am rather surprised by Kerry’s denial here. Everyone is saying he is denying it, therefore it has to be false, as the risk would be too high if it were true. Sure does not sound like that to me. To me it sure sounded like a Clintonian, non denial, denial. As quoted in Drudge, on Imus, Kerry said: “Well, there is nothing to report,” Kerry told IMUS. “So there is nothing to talk about. I’m not worried about it. No.”

Sure sounds to me like he could be talking about his not thinking his affairs are a news story. I did not hear him say he did not have an affair.

  2. Well, because he is running for president, and its self destructive, when you are running for president (and will have the press all over something like that). In other words, it was ok when Kennedy knew the press would never report it, but its dangerous in a president, when the candidate should know it could destroy him. A self destructive president, or one who likes to take such dangerous risks, is in my mind is a bad thing.

  3. Oh, then I’m sure you’ll love this article…

To which my reaction is so what?. Bush A:) wasn’t married at that time and B:) wasn’t sleeping with a subordinate.

If you’re having to reach for that kind of trashy innuendo to make a point you’re already in trouble.
