Not Knowing When To Stop

Howard Dean has done yet another 180, now firing his national campaign chairman for saying he’d "reach out" to John Kerry.

I’ve speculated that Dean might go all out for a third-party run, but it seemed a distant possibility. With Dean backing away from the idea of getting out of the race more and more every day one has to wonder what Dean is doing. Dean seems torn between his massive ego and his desire to see Bush defeated. He once remarked that his supporters wouldn’t vote for a “Washington” candidate, and that’s seeming less and less like an empty threat.

If Dean doesn’t drop soon, the Democrats are going to rue the day they heard the name Howard Dean. Considering that Dean was once supposed to have been the savior of the Democratic Party, that’s quite a turnaround.
