In a speech filled with self-congratulatory rhetoric, Howard Dean has dropped out of the Presidential race. However, much to the delight of Republicans, Dean still intends to use his campaign to continue to push the Democrats further and further to the left. By keeping his organization alive, Dean can still continue to ensure that sensible Democrats are left out of the Democratic political process. By sending "progressive" (AKA loony-left) delegates to Boston, Dean will ensure that the Democrats remain on the political fringe for some time. It’s not as bad to the Democrats as Dean continuing to run as a third party candidate, but it still means that the ghost of Howard Dean will continue to haunt the Democrats for some time.
