Fighting Spam Update

I’ve been doing some more research into the spammers at Eleventh Street Ventures, and apparently I’m not the only one to have billed them for spamming comment sections. Apparently that effort didn’t work out, as far as I can tell.

However, I now have what appears to be a correct physical address for Eleventh Street Ventures, and I will be sending a paper invoice to that address. I gave them sixty days to pay up or I will send this bill to a collection agency. These people are abusing the resources of others to post unsolicited commercial messages across state lines, which is not going to be tolerated anymore.

This is the address for Eleventh Street Ventures:

Eleventh Street Ventures, Inc.
1045 W. Balboa Blvd. #4
Newport Beach, CA 92661
US

I encourage anyone else who has recieved spam from cartopia.com or any of their other domains to contact them personally (and professionally) and inform them that these actions are not to be tolerated.

Furthermore, do not do business with cartopia.com as they are using spam to advertise their services. Those who do business with spammers are worse than the spammers themselves, because they justify the economics of spamming. So long as spamming remains marginally profitable, it will continue to clog the Internet with crap.

Remember, if you’ve been spammed by these people, you don’t have to take it. If bloggers work together and start taking down businesses that advertise using what amounts to digital graffiti, the risks of spamming will increase. While it won’t stop spam (there are always those who don’t care about the law), it will cut it down considerably.

UPDATE: I just notices something – I haven’t gotten a single comment spam attempt in over 24 hours – which is very unusual. Perhaps the spammers are getting the message? (Probably not, but one can dream…)
