Franks Debunks Kerry’s Tora Bora Distortion

Gen. Tommy Franks, the head of CENTCOM during both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom has a piece in The New York Times completely debunking John Kerry’s lies about the battle at Tora Bora.

On more than one occasion, Senator Kerry has referred to the fight at Tora Bora in Afghanistan during late 2001 as a missed opportunity for America. He claims that our forces had Osama bin Laden cornered and allowed him to escape. How did it happen? According to Mr. Kerry, we “outsourced” the job to Afghan warlords. As commander of the allied forces in the Middle East, I was responsible for the operation at Tora Bora, and I can tell you that the senator’s understanding of events doesn’t square with reality.

Because Kerry cannot maintain a lead in the polls, he has been spouting lie after lie – that Bush will reinstitute the draft, that he has some secret plan to “privatize” Social Security, and that Bush is somehow responsible for letting bin Laden get away at Tora Bora. Kerry’s constant stream of invective and lies is beginning to catch up to him, as honorable men like General Franks become tired of his constant distortions.
