Jill Carroll, the freelance journalists captured by terrorists in Iraq has been released by her captors after several months of captivity.
I’m not sure why she was released, but I suspect that her captors realized, quite correctly, that her murder would not help there cause. The Iraqi and American authorities were not about to bow to their demands. Carroll’s value as a propaganda tool was waning as the captors either had to kill her and make good on their promises or let her go. Thankfully, they chose the latter.
