The Palestinian Civil War

Over the last few weeks, the situation in the Palestinian territories has become increasingly violent as Fatah and Hamas forces battle for supremacy while Abbas pushes for a referendum on statehood. Now, Fatah gunmen have attacked the office of the Prime Minister and the Parliament building as Hamas threatens retaliatory attacks.

Palestine is basically in a state of anarchy. The “security forces” are basically in league with one or more of the factions in the fight, and neither side can control the violence. The only way that Hamas and Fatah can come to terms is if one side is defeated or neither side has anyone alive to fight. The Palestinians have systematically destroyed nearly every vestage of civil society in their territories and replaced them with a culture of death and violence. They’ve sown the wind for years, and now that the Israelis have isolated them, they’re reaping the whirlwind.

Golda Mier was right when she said that peace will not be possible between the Israelis and the Palestinians until the Palestinians love their children more than they hate the Israelis. Sadly, she’s right, and sadly the ongoing self-destruction of the Palestinian people show exactly what a culture of hatred and autocracy can do to a nation. The Palestinians are attacking their own futures, and their may be little left before they come to their senses.

  1. This is very good news. The Palestinians still want to drive the Jews into the sea. They have not been bloodied enough. Only when they reach rock bottom and kill off a majority who want jihad will there be a possibility for peace. A bloody civil war is just what they need to change their minds.

Personally I don’t think they will ever chage their minds. There is no possible political solution at this time. Only a military solution.

  2. “Personally I don’t think they will ever chage their minds.”

On a long enough timeline, every nation changes its mind.

If they didn’t, I’d probably be serving on a ship right now, raiding the European coastline.
