Lá Fhéile Phádraig Sona Dhaoibh!

(Thanks to Captain Ed for the title)

It’s Saint Patrick’s Day, which means that a good portion of the country is now intoxicated. For my part, I’ve got a bottle of fine Jameson Irish Whisky, the corned beef is simmering in the pot waiting for the cabbage, carrots, onions, and celery, and the Chieftains are playing in the background. All of which is good, since the wind is wailing like an old Irish banshee outside the window…

  1. And what a St. Patrick’s day it was for the murderous Irish Republican movement. Thanks to recent IRA bank robberies and smuggling and the murder of Robert McCartney by IRA men, not even long time IRA apologist Ted Kennedy wants to see the blood smeared hands of Gerry Adams. Sinn Fein has few friends in Washington these days except for the most radical of plastic paddy’s. Even still, I resent how a day that marks the spread of christianity to Ireland has been hijacked by the bigoted Irish Republican movement. I continue to wear orange on St. Patrick’s day in honor of the protestants of Northern Ireland who continue to have to deal with a foreign country making illegal claims on their province’s constitiutional integrity. I was also disgusted to see that American Irish republican thugs heckled Lisburn council member Cecil Calvert of Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionist Party when he waved a union jack at a st. patrick’s day parade in Seattle. More proof that there is little tolerance in the modern day strains of physical force Irish republicanism.
