Abu Nidal, one of the world’s most deadly terrorists
has been found dead in Baghdad. Some reports refer to the death as a suicide, but the multiple gunshots seem to rule that out.
While it would be nice to pin this one on the Mossad, something tells me that this is more a nice quid pro quo between Saddam Hussein and Yassir Arafat. Nidal was a sworn enemy of Arafat’s PLO, and was responsible for the assassination of Abu Iyad, Arafat’s intelligence chief, in 1991. There is evidence that the Iraqi dictator has been supporting the Palestinian intifada by sending money to the families of suicide bombers, and this could be a further attempt to curry favor with Arafat.
