Meanwhile, the death toll continues to rise, and nearly 220 Australians are still unaccounted for. Having some Aussie friends, it’s difficult to see the pictures of our grieving allies posting names and pictures hoping to know if their friends and relatives are alive our dead. To the Australians, this bombing is equivalent to September 11 in terms of per-capita deaths.

It is clear that no state can afford to be complacent about terrorism, be it in Iraq or anywhere else. This is a war against an enemy that would kill without regard, and we must be perpetually on guard to defeat that enemy.
