Who Cares What Jesus Would Drive?

One Hand Clapping points out
why the question "What Would Jesus Drive?" is a bad question to ask
. (He’s referring to an effot by Christian groups to show that driving an "inefficient" car is somehow unchristian.)

One of the problems a lot of people have with organized religion in general and specifically Christianity is that it seems like religious authorities care little for the tenets of religion and more for their own pet causes. No one could ever know what car Jesus would drive, nor is such an effort anything more than a simplistic move that tarnishes the kind of work that Jesus would have done.

  1. I really don’t see what’s wrong with promoting the use of fuel efficient vehicles. Far worse has been done in the name of Christ…

  2. Well, I gotta tell ya, I do drive a V8. And I do suck down some intense ammounts of gas. But you know what? I bet that I am causing less damage to the atmosphere than the tractor that picked the grain that made the sandwich in your hand. We should all become Amish and sit in a candle-lit room and breath softly so as not to disturb the fly in the corner. WAKE UP! If you people would spend as much time as you do sqaubbling about SUVs as you do praying, I guarentee your life would be more meaningful.
