The Turks are now going to allow the United States to use its bases in the invasion of Iraq. They want a limitation on the amount of force we can launch from Turkey, but they will give us enough to tie up any northern Iraqi defenses.
This is a major win from the US. We’ve been wanting to launch our attack from as many sides as we can, and now that Turkey has allowed us to launch from the North it means we can effectively hit Saddam from many angles.
To hell with the French – the allies we actually need to get things done are already on our side.
