The Palestinian terrorist Abu Abbas, mastermind of the 1985 Achille Lauro hijacking was taken into custody by US forces in Baghdad.
Mr. Abbas, also known as Muhammad Abbas, is the leader of the Palestinian Liberation Front. The group hijacked the liner in the eastern Mediterranean and, on Oct. 7, 1985, executed Leon Klinghoffer, 69, in front of his wife, Marilyn.
The shooting of Mr. Klinghoffer, who was disabled, was met with wide revulsion.
Then again, a terrorist like Arafat gets away scott-free after helping blow up hundreds of civilians. Perhaps if Mr. Abbas had been more ambitious he’d been getting his medal in Stockholm rather than facing life at Gitmo.
