Via The Command Post:
An Al-Jazeera camera crew sidled up to South Dakota Senate candidate John Thune on Monday and tried to ask some questions after he finished a live shot on MSNBC. But Thune kept walking after his campaign manager, Dick Wadhams, realized the crew was from the Arab-language satellite TV network, which many U.S. conservatives say is biased against the United States.
“We don’t need to be talking to people who defend terrorists,†Wadhams told other campaign aides. The crew followed Thune around on the floor for a few minutes before giving up and leaving.
You can tell the measure of a man by the company he keeps – and the company he rejects.
After November 2, I suspect the “company” John Thune keeps will include Harold Stassen, Ralph Nader, Steve Forbes, Jim Ross Lightfoot, William Jennings Bryan, and a host of other multiple-time losers who just can’t take the hint that their would-be constituents don’t want them.
I’m sure it’s great comfort to you to know that the leader of the Senate Democrats is running on a platform of how much he loves George W. Bush – which is not only a sign of desperation, but a sign that the only principles he stands on are whatever will get him elected.
Which makes him fit right in with his fellow Democrats.
I heard a couple Daschle radio ads while in SD last week, but none expressed his pleasure with George Bush. Please be specific…and cite quotes rather than strawmen.
Daschle is running a TV ad in South Dakota showing him hugging the President with the headline “Daschle: Time to Unite Behind Troops, Bush” superimposed over it.
Apparently it just doesn’t pay for Daschle to be who he really is.
Or perhaps Daschle is the true uniter instead of divider.
Way to move the goalposts, Mark.
Chris, I’m glad somebody appreciated the effort.
Or maybe Daschle is a craven opportunist who wants to have it both ways, praising Bush here in South Dakota, and roasting him in Washington…
My money’s on the latter.
