Red State’s Mike Krempasky (and an all-star cast of guest posters) has started a blog dedicated to the confirmation of John Bolton to the UN Ambassadorship.
The arguments against Bolton are ridiculous. There are insinuations that he – gasp! – was mean to subordinates (despite the fact that the witnesses so happen to be DNC partisans claiming to be “conservatives” who are contradicted by others who were there and would have witnessed these supposed outbursts).
Therefore, what’s good for the goose should be good for the gander. Here’s my modest proposal: If Bolton should not be in a position of power because of his temper, any Senator who has done the same should also resign immediately. Every member of Congress who has ever berated, embarrassed, yelled at, been foul to, or been angry at a subordinate should pack their bags and go home. Given that being a politician and being an asshole are often synonymous, I’d expect for the halls of Congress to be desolate in short order. And Sen. Biden, who can’t shut his preening pie-hole long enough to let anyone finish a sentence should be the first to tender his resignation.
Otherwise this whole idiotic affair is nothing more than another silly little partisan brouhaha on the part of the Democrats (and weak-willed Republicans like George Voinovich) that does nothing more than impedes the business of this nation. The UN needs someone like Bolton, not another mealy-mouthed bureaucratic leche-cul who will do nothing while the UN continues to lie, cheat, steal, and do anything but help world peace and stability. Sadly, the Democrats seem to be more interested in pissant political games than the future of the UN.
Amen.
And remember Bill Clinton and what George Stephanopolous termed, I think, his “purple rage” or “purple streak” – where he’d get so made he’d turn purple while screaming at subordinates (and groping the help).
