“So, is Abe Vigoda still alive?”
The Abe Vigoda Status Widget for the Dashboard for Tiger lets you know the status of Abe Vigoda at any time. This is based on the Abe Vigoda Status extension for Firefox, although the code is entirely different.
This is a very simple example of a Dashboard widget. There’s only a touch of JavaScript and the actual backend is written in Python – one of the great features of Dashboard is that you can write rather complex widgets using standard tools like DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, and simple scripting languages like Python, Perl, Ruby, or AppleScript.
