Rescuers are giving up on a group of pilot whales that beached themselves on Cape Cod this weekend. Even some of those whales that were rescued ended up beaching themselves all over again.
I would not at all be surprised to hear the environmentalists say that some kind of man-made agent was responsible for all this, or blame it all on global warming. However, one wonders if there isn’t some reason why all these whales just kill themselves like this. Perhaps it’s nature’s way of thinning out the herd. No matter what it is, it’s natural selection in action, and it’s unlikely that there’s anything anyone can do to prevent it.
