The World Tribune says that the US has told Israel that it will stay out of the Iraq invasion, and the US will provide for the security of Israel.
The Washington Postsays that exact opposite, that Israel is engaging in pre-war preparations including exercises with US troops.
While chances are Israel won’t be taking a very large role in the invasion of Iraq, they will be taking steps to protect themselves. That includes the use of the new Arrow anti-missile system that can intercept Scuds with more accuracy and at a higher altitude than the old Patriot missile system. It also means that if the Iraqis make a chemical, biological, or nuclear strike against Israel, the results will be swift and severe. Luckily, Israel is ready, and between the Arrow and the likely speed of the allied invasion of Iraq, that scenario does not seem very likely.
